Hoping to reduce the number of Californians who unwittingly carry and spread the coronavirus, the state will launch a new smartphone app that alerts users if they may have been exposed to people with the virus. Gov. Gavin Newsom said the new app, CA Notify, will allow people who test positive to anonymously inform those with whom they have been in close proximity that they may have been exposed.
